You;'d probably gain a few more hp with a true 2.5" muffler, however. Scorza, scza, dinan, megan el supremo, magnaflow are the ones that I know of. SS will do it as a custom job.
The Dinan will sound good with this combination and flow well.'05 M3 Convertible 6MT, CB/Cinnamon, CSL Airbox&Flap, PCSTuning, Beisan, Schrick 288/280, SS V1's & 2.5" System, RE Stg 1&SMF, KW V2, CB PS, Apex EC-7R

There was an old post on M3F back in the day where someone compared mufflers on a low HP turbo M3...I wanna say it was in the low to mid 400 range. They dyno'd w/a factory muffler and then swapped over to the now NLA Diablo Race muffler (2.5" version), and they picked up a considerable amount of power...I wanna say as much as 15-25HP-IIRC. So, at some point, the factory muffler/boat anchor def becomes a restriction, and I'd be willing to bet that it's at a much lower HP point than low 400's. I would guess somewhere around the 320+ mark that it starts becoming a restriction. Gotta remember that the muffler is all the way at the end of the system though, so it's going to have less of an effect on reducing HP than the pipes upstream, but at some point...it will start robbing power.Last edited by stash1; 12-03-2022, 07:39 AM.

I have OEM euro headers , OEM euro sec one, OEM sec 2, SCZA .. I like the setup but there was rasp at around 3k that was irking me. I purchased a SS dual resonated sec 2 and that took care of the rasp but did make the car a lot quieter too. I’m not sure if I like it or not. The butt dyno does feel a little kick but nothing to go crazy about.

Was it HPF with +600hp car test?

SuperSprint Lightweight Race
I'm running SS stepped manifolds (I can't recall if they're v1 or v2), StatusGruppe section 1 (twin 2 1/4" with 2 bottle style resonators), SS section 2 3" x pipe (with a Magnaflow 14159 muffler) and SS Lightweight Race section 3.
It really is quite loud, although I get absolutely zero drone and zero rasp

Does anyone know if there are two versions of the 2.5" twin pipe section 2? It seems that the section 2 reduces down to 2.36" at the connection point for the muffler. Spoke to Supersprint today, they told me that all 2.5" twin pipe section 2 reduce down to 2.36" to connect to the muffler. They also told me that their mufflers use 2.5" tubing after the section 2 connection point. Is this true?

Supersprint's dual pipe sect 2s (res & unres) aren't completely 2.5" in order to play nice with almost any other sect 1/sect3 out there. They will, however, make a full 2.5" version if you have their 2.5" sect 1 (v1) and they're custom 2.5" mufflers or some other full 2.5" muffler like scorza/dinan.
All of their exhaust parts for this car are 60mm except for v1s, and that was true for years until they came out with dual pipe sect 2s more recently. No SS sect 3 has ever had 2.5" piping that I've ever seen (and I owned ss sport mufler, and I measured) except for a custom ordered sect 3 from them.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

Maybe the piping inside the muffler housing, that you can't see, goes back up to 2.5" (I doubt it), but the piping that is exposed is 60mm, and I've confirmed it myself.
I hope they're not simply referring to the small portion that goes up to 2.5" o.d. simply to slip over another's section's 60mm at the connecting point as that would be disingenuous.
Look above at the picture I posted of the SS race - see how it steps down to 60mm right before it enters the body? Why would it step back up to 2.5" inside? It makes no sense.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram
