    N54 torn manifold studs

    Hey Everyone,

I'm installing my SSV1 headers and got the N54 manifold studs (11127593376) longer with the torn heads. As I try to thread them into the head, they don't seem to fit. I catch the first thread by hand, then they stop abruptly.

Does everyone have this experience? Am I just being a soft ass and should just get the rachet?

I didn't install my SSV1's and N54 studs but I didn't hear anything about it from the shop that did it.

I'm close friends with the person that installed them and he didn't complain so I think I would try a few different studs before you grab a ratchet.

I remember mine being sorta hard to thread in. Just be careful if you do go at them with a ratchet because the head is aluminum

Blow out the female threads with brake clean/air, clean the N54 studs and lightly coat them in anti-seize and they should go in by hand a few turns.

Make sure they aren't going in sideways, I had one that went in wrong and had to pay a shop to extract the stud/save the threads. FWIW factory studs are fine with SSV1'S, in my opinion the longer N54 studs make the header installation harder as you don't have as much room.

I remember having a hard time threading them into my M54 Ended up chasing the rest of the threads and then the rest went in easily.

Ok so I went forward and put in one stud, and the torn bit snapped of the head out of nowhere. Tried putting on the nut to get it off, and this is what it did to the threads.

            wtf???

Homie, get the stock studs and throw those on. FCP has them on sale for $2.99.
