2023 CSL Airbox Pricing Karbonius vs TMS

Hey all, haven’t been on the forums in many years but I thought I’d post this up to get some advice/interaction. I’m likely to be pulling the trigger on a CSL intake for my M3 after almost 5 years of ownership. Pricing on the Karbonius is now actually lower than the TMS intakes which I never expected. I realize there’s a much longer lead time but I understand they are probably higher quality than the TMS intake. I guess I’m looking for some buying advice. Sorry if this has been brought up recently already!

Wow no kidding! From turner themselves even.
Yes, I'd go with Karbonius and wait extra. The front will allow you to add the intake flap and the build quality on my OEM style box was amazing.

I wonder if it was a COVID price hike or if it just wasn’t feasible at the 1200-1300 range I believe they were in at first

I got mine in the m3f.net gb price which was around 1200 all in with all the CSL conversion components needed minus the map sensor pack. However i needed a v2 turner box, and if karbonius is even close to TMS pricing I'd take that with eyes closed. There's a collosal Gulf in quality and maybe development as well. Karbonius is basically OEM intake at this point if not slightly better.

Paid $600 for mine and wouldn't have paid more than $1000 in good condition. I'm glad I didn't. Probably has a $600 manufacturing cost. I would take a Karb all day, funds willing.

Pretty sure you could kinda get away with this and build a DIY S70/2. S50B30 heads look a bit closer to the S70 head and match the 86mm bore.

Making a double VANOS McLaren F1 with S54 heads would be awesome though, but the 87mm bore might be a problem. Maybe an S50B32 head would work better? Double VANOS and 86.4mm bore.

Would only have to deal with the small problem of having to mirror one of the heads.

Ah if I had the time/money, I would use it to pursue stupid endeavors like this one

Did you guys notice the shape of the manifold is different from the s54 one? ....I wonder if that shape is directly due to the F1 engine differences/size/placement in the car or they found something that could make more power?
