Darn, I was hoping for a less expensive solution than a whole new regulator at $700 new. You get a new or used one, and if used, is there any tip to evaluating one before purchase?

Yea, me too. Haha. It was not to be.

I bought a new regulator when they were $350-ish. The full story is that I bought what was termed an unbranded OEM regulator first only to be annoyed by the different motor sound/speed and the lackluster quality. So I did it again. The second time with a genuine regulator. With the genuine part, I was happy and moved on to the next project.

The genuine part is more stout (which you feel when closing the door) and the original motor makes the right noises.
