Is there a half cage that ties to the subframe

Is there a Cots half cage/roll bar that ties to the 4 subframe mount points AND to structural points in the chassis at once? Or do people with this type of setup typically have something like depicted below AND an additional bolt-in or weld-in roll bar?

A custom cage builder can make anything you want.

6-7 years ago on RIP M3forum.net, I was selling roll bar kits that tie-ins to rear subframe. I sold a couple than stop making them. I was building and welding the main hoop, and would make all other tubes with notch in them than would ship them and buyer would weld them in their cars.

I still have my « jig » and templates somewhere in my garage.

I am toying with the idea to make another batch this spring depending on interest. I know a member here already contacted me cause he has a kit in one of his M3 and want to build another car.

You can see my kit in the Chicane Motorsport E46 M3 S62 shop car here:

Recently went down this rabbit hole too. You can have one made, for sure. But there are no off the shelf ones as far as I can tell. What I ended up with is a Yurkan 6 point rear brace and a Kirk roll bar which mounts to the wheel wells. There is a company in the UK called Pinnacle Motorsports that makes a cage that ties into the rear strut towers, but it does not tie into the subframe. The guy might be able to make you one but TBH it would be easier to just get a custom cage made locally at that point.

As a side note, the Kirk bar leaves something to be desired from a aesthetics and customer service standpoint. The paint and welds are extremely sloppy, structurally sound but it's just so clear they don't give a fuck, and they ship the bars as if they gave a 6 year old child a roll of tape and some newspaper. Mine arrived damaged (cosmetic only, luckily) and Bimmerworld ended up giving me some store credit, because Kirk themselves didn't give even the slightest of shits.

Here are some pics of the kits I was selling.

On my ZCP track car, I cutted/removed the rear speaker shelf and I was able to fit 4x 275/35/18 18x10 track weels inside the car to go to the track.

I can make the main hoop larger or narrower depending if you keep rear panels and B-pillars covers or not.

My LSB has the interior completely removed now so I would be able to do custom stuff / take measures / use the car as a jig! I can add a diagonal from main hoop to rear shock tower, make an X-brace between rear shock tower instead of straight tube, make B-pillars gussets, make 2 diagonals/X between rear shock tower with same kind of gussets as main hoop but on vertical tube vs horizontal, make difference base plates to get the main hoop shift rearward, …

Are you based in Montreal (saw this in your profile) ? If so that could be interesting, I'm there often.

That looks great, if you could make a kit that's feasible to ship and have someone else weld, you'd probably sell a lot of those.

Sold a bunch of those kits shipped all over USA back than. Shipped main hoop wrapped in bubbles wrap and packaging tape and a box for everything else.

If I had known about this like 6 months ago I would have been all over it. Just for posterity's sake, how much are you asking for a kit like that with all the options?

Not sure yet, will have to check how much cost DOM 1.75’’x0.095’’ these days. It will be more expensive than what I was asking 6 years ago.
