Is this steering rack out of an e46 M3?

    Is this steering rack out of an e46 M3?

    My factory rack is leaking so I picked up a used one off of Ebay. The picture the seller used had the same PN as my rack, but once it arrived it looks like he shipped a different one.

    My factory rack has a green tag and PN 7852 974 455 / 2 229 395, while the one I received also has a green tag but this PN 7852 974 761 / 2 229 397.

    Pictured below is the rack I received first and mine, bottom.

    I realized my pictures suck, will take better pictures tonight.

    Anyone has any experience with the re-manufactured racks sold by FCP Euro? I might go that route and use the one I got as a core as the one I got looks like it was sitting at the bottom of the ocean and worse than mine.

      I will let the experts chime in as I am new to the E46 M3 platform, but I thought that green tag rack part number was from a non-m Z3

      Howdy everyone, I hope this might help anyone who (like me recently) is on the fence about making this upgrade. tl;dr: Do it! I recently installed a "green tag" Z3 rack (out of a 1.9L) into my E46 M3. The good news is that all the M3 tie rods hook right up, all you need is the rack itself. I sourced the rack on ebay
