Jap Rot Color SWAP?!? Am I Crazy??

let me first start by apologizing for the douchey YouTube streamer title. Hopefully it got your attention because I don’t have any first hand experience with vinyl wrap

i have a vorsteiner hood, vcsl bumper, oem csl trunk I’m looking to install (all parts currently have primer from factory). I’m debating whether I should paint the parts, or use this opportunity to try out a new color.

The engine in my Japan Red M3 is currently out for some maintenance and turbo refab etc

looking for your experience on wrapping these extra curvy parts like the csl trunk. Any issues from the wrapper?

also how did your paint look after removing the vinyl?

    thanks in advance!

Paint. It'll last longer and look better. Avoid wrapping the car in a metric shit ton of vinyl just to dispose of it in 2-3 years and also risk pulling clearcoat off with it.

that’s kind of what I’m leaning towards. Especially since the quotes I’m getting are way higher than anticipated

the big decider here should be whether or not you can find a painter or vinyl wrap guy that can do a good enough job

good paint job > good wrap job
good wrap job > bad paint job
bad wrap job > bad paint job

these days (at least in norcal) it's easier to find someone that can wrap a car well than a shop that can do an OEM level color change

Will the wrap stick well to the primer? My gut feeling is that you need a smooth surface (so paint) for it to adhere correctly, but I have no experience with this.

Japan Red is one of the best, rarest colors for an E46 M3! You are crazy to change it.

I've never seen the color in person. But I agree. With such a rare color why would you change it?
