    S54 w/ ZF320 5-Speed - What Clutch?

    Hey All!

I am using an ACT 601010 Forged Flywheel and ACT B014 pressure plate on my S54. I am moving from the 420G transmission to a ZF320. I intended to use an E34 M5 clutch, but upon installation I found that it was slightly too thick to place with the springs facing the flywheel and there only appeared to be about ~5mm of clearance to the pressure plate fingers with the springs facing the transmission. Thus, I am guessing it would contact when disengaging.

Looking for suggestions here. I am guessing an E36 M3 unsprung clutch would fit fine as that appears to be considerably thinner.

    Thanks in advance!

S54 Z3M appears to use the E36 M3 clutch, so I imagine that would fit. But if you have a single mass flywheel you'll need a sprung hub clutch, and I'm not sure what your best option there is if the E34 M5 clutch doesn't fit.

Incase anyone else has this question in the future, I am going with the BimmerWorld Sprung-Hub Clutch & Flywheel Kit, Stage I - E36, E46, Z3. Will report back on how install goes - if anything else needs to be changed, etc.

Not sure an E36 clutch disc will work with an E46 M3 flywheel - the OD of the flywheel is different.

Sucks the E34 M5 Sachs disc doesn’t fit. It works with a JB Racing flywheel.

Hmm, that’s a good point. Looks like the s54 Z3M used the s50b32 flywheel

It was super close, but the design of the flywheel created contact. with the springs. Ah, well!
