Working on a car that does not blink or make a sound when locking/unlocking - is this something I need to turn on in INPA or similar, or did not all of them came with this option/function? Car lock and unlocks just fine, but its silent and no blinks. Any help would be appreciated.

I honestly don't know if the car has an alarm - how to check? Where in INPA do you go to code the blink?BMW / E46M Interior & Trim Restoration.

Sorry, INPA probably does coding, but I meant to say NCS Expert for coding. It is in the general module, most likely where some of the other alarm coding options are located.
I think the easiest way to tell is to look for the alarm pre-wired badge on the trunk liner. If it has that, then the car did not get the alarm unless it was added after the fact. You can also check for the tilt sensor behind the right rear trunk liner, the ultrasonic sensor in the headliner, or the siren under the cabin filter housing. If none of those are there or the car does not beep when programmed, then it does not have the alarm system.

Adding and enabling the OEM alarm (or just the siren) will add sound to your unlocking/locking events. On my 04, the wires were all there. I just needed to buy the parts and plug them in.
FYI -- The siren is pretty easy. It plugs in to a wire in the cavity under the front fresh air cowl. Install was all of 20 minutes.

Ok, just checked - no alarm. That explains no sound. I'm fine with that.
If somebody could post how I can enable at least the blinking - I would appreciate it. I think I only have INPA on my laptop - not sure if it can be done with just that.BMW / E46M Interior & Trim Restoration.

Sticky in the Coding section:Getting Started with NCS Expert This is a basic guide on how to use NCS Expert. I won’t cover the complete list of codable options, because frankly there’s far too many. In the next post I’ve attached a copy of Obioban’s coding thread from the original m3forum. This guide will be focused on the E46. Coding other cars
