Issues with CSL SMG Tune After Flashing M3 with ECUWorx Tool

    Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this topic has been addressed previously.

I recently updated my M3 using the ECUWorx tool, which included changes like the rev lights, rear O2s, and most importantly, the CSL SMG tune and inertia update. However, post-flash, I've observed that while the adjusted rev lights are functioning as expected, the SMG-related updates seem to have disappeared.

My M3 has Dinan parts from the factory and the associated Dinan tune, to provide some background. A friend mentioned that Dinan may have locked the DME when they implemented their tune. This seems plausible because, immediately after flashing, the CSL update appears intact. However, upon driving the car the subsequent day, its behavior suggests that the CSL flash might not be present anymore.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue or have insights on how to address this? I'd greatly appreciate your expertise.

Read the ECU again and see if the csl map is still
    there?

From what I know Dinan locks their tunes in the DME but I'm not sure if they lock the transmission. That would seem pointless but it's Dinan. They're garbage. I work with a tech who made hundreds of hours removing factory Dinan parts and ECUs at his previous dealership.

Yeah, I doubt that Dinan rolled their own SMG ECU program. When folks refer to the “CSL SMG tune” 90% of the time its just updating the engine DME with the shift parameters from the CSL. The other 10% of the time folks actually go through the effort of flashing the SMG computer with the CSL bin. If op can read the tune from the engine DME then it likely isn't locked.

OP, more details on the SMG “tune” here:

Copied and pasted from a document I got off the old forum. Author unknown --- Flashing your SMG Module with the CSL Software Disclaimer: This is a fairly invasive procedure. The flashing process takes 15-30 minutes, and if interrupted, your SMG module will essentially be bricked. Depending on what point it fails at recovery

Read through that thread and try to diag your issue.

OP is interested, but after accidentally virginizing my DME, I am now trying to fix this issue first😅.
