Need advice going back to cats. I had Ebay headers and a catless back exhaust system installed a week after I bought my 2005 E46 M3 (in 2009). I then had a careful Dyno Tune by Barry at Active Autowerke. He leaned things out as much as he thought was safe.
But, my M3 is a 'vert and I get gassed out at a stop light. I get soot (over time) all over my nice Cinnamon rear seats when I have the top down, because some of the exhaust curls back on itself at speed.
The Ebay headers have been GREAT for $75 for 14 years. But, Time to retire them.
I know I can buy headers and have open cell cats welded on..... OR for a perfect fit, buy them already welded in place...for a premium, it seems.$3K OUCH!!!!
.
So, should I get these from aFe? I gained 30 RWHP by de catting plus a dyno tune. How much of that will I loose with the aFe set up? Or should I go to the trouble and possibly more $$ by purchasing headers and 200 cell free flow cats separately?
I dont know how many cells, or how free flowing the aFe cats are.
Will be mated with a Borla Mid section if I can find one...and a R.E. El Diablo muffler with their electric cut out for the track.
