NEED HELP: Remind Me re: Brake Line Removal From Caliper -- Direction

Remind me which direction LOOSENS the brake line from the caliper - line downward facing the caliper connection. I can't remember if its reverse threaded or follows the old lefty-loosey (counterclockwise) mantra. This thing seems firmy stuck.

    Thanks!

Get the vehicle-side off first. Then use the box end side of the wrench to break the caliper side loose.

        Or use a line wrench.

Since you don't want the line twisted when it's installed I always loosen the vehicle side anyway, so the line doesn't want to untwist when it's installed.

I just went at it again. No joy in getting it loose at the caliper - and I've put some real force on it.

My next plan is to rebuild it on the car <ack!> because I'm on a 'tonight' schedule.

Do you have a new brake line? Could cut the old one in half and then get the end that's still in the caliper off with an impact and a regular socket.

Open the bleeder first so that brake fluid doesn't spray everywhere when you cut it.
