I don't agree with not being morally problematic. But, that's just from friends that immigrated from. But, definitely don't want to turn this into some political probe. I think there are parts that come out of China and Russia that are high quality. It just depends on what they desire the end user product to be. I have seen audio equipment from China that is far superior to German counterparts.

      I didn't say Russia wasn't morally problematic

Just that they're not nearly as bad as China.

They do hit a solid four or five out of your six China bullet points

I don't think it's black and white. For me it comes down to risk. You can spend lots of money on crap made anywhere in the world...FACT! Something from China has a higher probability of being crap. There is some cheap chinese stuff that works just as good OR sometimes better than a US made part. Hell...there's some Chinese parts that have worked better than something from Bimmerworld. But that scenario is less likely.

This whole Russia thing? Thats the Russian government...not Slon. So I don't see the heartburn over buying from an individual citizen who's trying to put food on the table and make a living. Yes, I'm sure some of the money gets paid as taxes but is that a huge deal? And that's the beauty of being a 'Murican! Freedom! We can choose to boycott Russia....we can choose not to.

And one last fact...beating someone into submission to get an admission that they are wrong over the internet never works. haha

Of course it's black and white. You're risking the loss of money by betting it crosses the "just good enough" threshold or that it will suffice for your purposes and intents. If you don't want to gamble as I don't, you don't buy china period (among the whole host of other reasons). Nobody manufactures there other than for the fact that they can fulfill high volumes of cheap shit. The only example anyone can ever come up with is the iphone, that's it.

Expensive isn't always good but cheap is always bad. If you've ever held a chinese made product in your hand and thought "this is nice" then you've just not owned anything nice of course. It is not made to any semblance of standard like it would be in taiwan, korea, japan, us, germany, italy, etc.

Agree on everything else russia, the internet and holidays.

I got the Megan headers for 1/4 the price that is normally charged for E46 headers. When I had those chinese made headers in my hand...I did in fact think to myself...these are nice!

But you totally missed the point and the word "Risk".

I addressed your point perfectly with the second sentence.

Additionally, if price wasn't a factor nobody in their right mind would pick megans over euros. End of discussion.

                    Many here have blinders on!

i work for an OEM proudly American, and we more often than not have to use parts from our plant in China because guess what, their timelines are unbeatable and their quality is just as good, if not better.

they days of “any China stuff is bad” are long gone.

Says you and your limited scope. Personally, and certainly not just for quality's sake, I'll always look elsewhere first. Always.

Yea, I even got after it with one of their guys in a Facebook group because he was trying to say they aren’t ripoffs of RI-A/FI-As, and there’s another new one that’s exactly like a ZE40. Not that this is news or anything, but the fact that nearly everyone just turns a blind eye and gives Apex a pass is hilarious to me.

I don’t have a problem with Chinese/Taiwanese wheels if they aren’t flagrant reps, like Bimmerworld TA16 wheels or Titan7. I at least appreciate how those guys conduct themselves and are honest about what they’re doing and why. I own Volks, BBS, ACS wheels, and I also have BW track wheels and will undoubtedly buy more in the future. So I’m not anti China, I’m anti ripoff. It’s a hard line to tow sometimes lol.

Another example of Chinese made products that are actually pretty good, and that I use professionally, are DJI drones and gimbals. They own a majority stake in Hassleblad too which is kinda wild if you know about cameras.

it's easy to rip off and sell at a fraction of what a real one would sell for though. There's a market for it. Just filling the void, which is kind of smart play in economies of scale. And of course quality is decreased to meet said price point.

i'd say at most, apex just copies the styling of the big companies and only in a subjective manner. their engineering and the work they do providing enthusiasts with the fitment and sizing they actually want is all their own and extremely valuable imo.

didn't they call out Titan 7 for essentially lying about having certifications, and had to retract all of it because the community/industry pretty much just loudly yelled, "wow that was unprofessional take it back!"?

i run volks but would take Apex wheels over Titan7s any day of the week

LOL!! Unconscionable that the guy is even trying to defend their position. He sounds like the ministry of truth for apex bamboozling people for their dollars in exchange for stolen intellectual property.
