    E46M3 intermittently turns off

Once in a while, the M3 just turns itself off. I would restart and it would run fine. There are times when I see the rpm want to drop and I blip the throttle and it’s fine. Could it be the fuel filter or fuel pump?

    51k miles
    Vanos bullet proof
    Karbonius intake
    Full SS system
    CSL DME
    CSL SMG

I don't think the issue related to pump or filter as they are only 51K miles.

There's a possibility the crank sensor is going bad. I'm not saying that's absolutely the problem but it's a possibility.

        Read codes?

I'm pretty sure crank sensor going bad throws code. I think fuel pump is starting to cut out.

Will check for codes and report back, thanks all.

Sounds like one of the cam sensors - this happened on my car, it would randomly shut off but then start right back up. No codes when I scanned it after it happened for a 4th time, so I replaced the intake and exhaust cam sensors and it never came back - my car was at 145k at the time, just fyi

They don't have to throw codes. Relying on DTCs solely is a bad practice and is not always reliable. If anything, they're just the engineers' attempt to predict what can go wrong. If it's intermittent, if most likely will not throw a code. A hard fail is usually what gives a code for the crank sensor. Cam sensors are more likely to throw codes and much less likely to shut the car off. The car can technically run without cam sensors but it will not run without a crank sensor signal.

has the car recently had a SMG-> 6M swap?

No, original SMG with CSL s/w

When did it start to randomly die on you? Was it after any modifications? The fuel pump is a very easy job to do but it may not be the problem. Sounds like more of a vacuum leak. Maybe run a smoke test before you go dumping money on parts. Although it’s not a bad idea to have a fresh fuel pump on standby

It started to occur, once the following was done:
                        CSL intake
                        Full SS system
                        Besian vanos
                        SMG relocation
                        CSL DME S/W
                        CSL SMG S/W

This occurs once in a while, and at first thought it was the new S/W calibrating.

I screenshot some codes but not sure what to look for

See that post about someone tapping the fuse box inside the bay that the car did all sorts of weird things? Try that, could be a loose wire or relay going bad.

So post them here? Whilst codes are not the be all and end all they are a good place to start.
