What were the symptoms that led you to know it was not bleeding correctly?

That mofo just wouldn’t bleed right. As soon as we put in a new factory radiator it was perfect first try.

Thank you for giving your feedback. I’ll speak to them Monday and then see what they say.

What does that mean it wouldn't bleed right? The system is self bleeding, I wouldn't think you'd be able to know it wasn't bled? So I am curious to know what symptoms you had.

I'm genuinely wondering as I haven't run into something like that and want to know what to look out for.

The car would keep overheating and when you touch the radiator it still had cold spots. Maybe I’m not explaining myself right lol. But yeah CSF are a bitch to bleed. After two did the same thing we just stopped installing them. Especially also on the forums a lot of users use the
              Factory radiator.

My reason for getting a new one is just age, mines 20 years old. So thought I’d upgrade to a more sturdy design like the koyo with the aluminum side tanks.

I've had (2) cars with CSFs that would get hot and whenever I diagnose at temp issue on these I watch the engine temp vs the rad outlet temp. The CSFs were almost always 0-1* delta where a stock rad is usually 5*+/-. I always assumed they were just built in a way that causes the coolant to flow too fast through them. But maybe you are onto something with air getting trapped in it and that causes the diminished cooling. I'll be sure to look into that the next one I see.

Yes exactly. Thank you for the data and feedback.

It might be worth considering vacuum filling to see if it cures the problem.

That’s the only we do it. We tried it, was the same issue.

Being as the cars have overheating issues with CSF normally when stopped, and the CSF being the only triple-pass option radiator, I am guessing that the waterpump simply does not flow enough at idle for coolant to not "stall" before it hits the outlet. I have one I purchased on closeout for dirt cheap (sub 300!) that I will try this winter. Worst thing I do is pull it out and sell it on.

The DO88 is also triple pass.

another option, albeit an expensive one, but I’ve been very happy with it on the e36 for the past decade

Even 20 years ago I wouldn’t have bought this just because of the price vs performance factor here LOL. This is more money is no object people….:
