Weird Intermittent Starting Issues

1. do you have to turn off the key and crank again to have the engine running? If yes then maybe the starter solenoid/Bendic is going bad.
2. did you try with another key? Could be ews and DME synching issue. Use inpa to read the ews status
3. they are not related.

1. Yes I would try to start the car and it would crank over and over but not start. I then put the key to the off position, wait a second and try again and it will start up fine.

2. I have not tried another key

I use Inpa or Veepeak. But Inpa can read the EWS status to verify if there is any issue of communication between EWS and DME.

I don't think this's related to bad crank sensor; if it's bad there should be the red Service Engine Soon light.

I have a veepak but should use something a bit more robust. I just see codes via my phone with an app called OBD fusion.

In this case it’s better to use inpa app to read the EWS status.
