    227k mile E46 m3 oil pressure

I am hoping someone can shed some light on a situation regarding the oil pressure light sometimes remaining on a bit too long, when the car has sat for a bit. I changed the oil filter housing assuming the check valve was the issue but it has not resolved which sucks at about $400.

If I stop the car for 10 minutes then start, the oil light will go out along with the battery light. If sitting for an hour +, it can sometimes take a few seconds past battery light off. Last valve adjustment I noticed some light marks on some of the cam lobe tips. Might need to pressure test the car to see if it is the oil pump? I have owned this car for almost 3 decades and have seen those lobes a lot, this is relatively newish. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Wow, 227K miles!! What is the history of the rod and main bearings?

OFH replacement -- is it brand new or used? If used how do you know the check valve condition? If it's new then I agree to check the pump pressure.

Rod bearings are good I did them about 29K ago, car has been maintained well. The Oil Filter housing was OEM New replacement from FCP. I am wondering if there is an issue with the oil pump building pressure, ( what's odd to me is it is not consistent in how it presents) - I am going to borrow or source an OF housing top with pressure gauge to check of it is the pump or maybe the sensor?. Any insight in any capacity is appreciated.

Thanks Slide, it looks like that person had an Oil Pressure light that came on and stayed on for a bit intermittently. My situation is different: morning start and it goes off a slight bit longer then battery light, but not concerning. If car sits for a long while like 8 hours the oil light does the same and no concern, however when I drive then let the car sit for like 30 minutes, often when started the oil light remains on longer and that seems odd and illogical to me other then something causing this to happen when hot.

A long term mechanic my family and I are friends with told me to not be concerned about this .... so I am hoping to confirm if anyone else with an M has anything like this or does the Oil light always go out immediately with battery light? Thanks again.
