-molds take a lot of space, shop is small
-roof is a huge part to make, huge part to ship $$$
-JC is alone working in the shop, we can’t do too much parts at the same time

We love Karbonius & Slon CF work of art. I will buy a CF roof for my Silver E46 M3 in a near future and it will probably be a Lang Racing even if I would prefer a Karbonius. As long as the shape is good, I don’t mind about the weaves not being perfectly align cause I won’t leave CF exposed. I only want the weight saving and the look of a slicktop, I want the car to be the same color on every panels. Personnal preference. I had a Lang Racing CF roof 9 years ago on another track car and quality seems fine back than.

Also I am in Montreal, Canada and since IND is now the NA distributor, Karbonius prices makes no sense for us. It was cheaper to buy directly from Spain.

Something I personally want for my Silver M3 (and JC doesn’t want to make…) is a wider front end (bumper & fenders) for agressive front fitment and better aero on track. Something like this:
Maybe it doesn’t need to be a whole front end, maybe it could be an integrated lip and the bumper extension pieces that cover the part of the tires that stick out like on 911 cup cars.

That’s exactly what JC want to do… I want the real deal! Anyway I will cut my steel fenders and extend them myself, will see if a mold/CF fenders will happen after

I think the issue with Matt was that it started out, at least seemingly, like he was putting in the leg work to get good GBs going, and the only apparant self interest was him getting cool parts for a good price. That he was doing it a bit for himself, like anyone, but did truly love the platform and want the community to thrive. I know that sounds a bit cliche or silly, but I really think the vast majority of us do really feel that way, that we genuinely want to grow the knowledge and accesibilty of parts etc.

We don't cry about normal retailers like FCP, because they never tried to pretend to be just another member of the community helping out. They're a parts vender like many others, and we know they make a profit. I was one of the first people to start calling him out, but if you check those posts, you'll see that I stated multiple times that I have zero issue with capitalism and running a business. I just really hate b.s. advertising and the games some people/companies play.

So to recap, since I was one of the more prominent thorns in his side, publicly at least, my main issue was the false pretense. It is more annoying/aggrivating, I think, to those of us (many here) who have contributed over the years to, may I say, what is one of the best car communities around.

He should have known that one-day people will see how much he's charging just for his little search service, if you will even call it that, and converted to a membership-based business model, i.e., Costco, pay XYZ amount per annum or every month and get access to all kinds of deals, that membership pays for his search services, but also, it's an upfront cost that everyone is aware of, such that no feels taken advantage of.

Hell, give me $75 and I will curate the best, most proper pieces for your m3 you've ever seen.
Some of the stuff he is selling has 80% markup HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I am laughing because people here actually fell for it after having been through another iteration of this before. Most GB gurus are a load of shit here. When I lightly suggested Actually trying to get a discount for the forum members as a Thank You, he stepped in and F***ed it up for Y'all.

Never going to put myself in that situation again.

I’ve always assumed group buys are a scam. Think about it. I send someone money who doesn’t even have possession or the ability to make the product. Hmmm. I’ve seen more tears shed from group buys than people actually saving any significant money.

Call me paranoid…I also did work for the government for 12 years and held a security clearance. My assumption is men in black suits are out to get me so my martial arts game is always too notch.

I shape carbon fabric into stuff as a hobby but I’m willing to do it for a profit. The amount of people that contact me and say…can I get a better price if I start a group buy…GTFO! They’re just a desperate scammer.

The only GB I ever trust are the apex wheels group buys.
