Fuel pressure regulator vacuum leak symptoms?

When i start the car it really struggles to idle. does after a minute or so.

Once idle is acheived the car runs fine and you can drive it have without issue.

I was wondering if the vacuum hose from the air rail to the fuel pressure regulator might be leaking or perhaps a sticking regulator?

Has anyone on here had an issue with their FPR or vacuum pipe?

What are the symptoms of a FPR vacuum leak?

Use OBD reader and make a log file with all 4 fuel trims with engine idling at hot idle, and we can tell if it's running lean from any vac leak.

Is this enough to make a diagnosis?

      It looks reasonably balanced?

I reset the adaptations before i started the engine.

How many threads do you need on this. I get it's frustrating.

Half that screen you cleared by resetting the adaptations and fuel trims. What looks balanced to you anyway?

Get the log as suggested. What it logs is what you wiped but also it is a single point in time vs logging over time.

How do i capture logs. Is some additional software required to record INPA data?

To be fair, it's not always easy to understand what somebody means when they say get the logs....

Even sapote being a seasoned member Can sometimes not always give a nudge from the right direction for people who are new to this.

I like to think of it as sometimes there's people out there that want to know more. Want to do something. They're asking a bunch of questions. They go to forums and Facebook groups but they just don't have the basics to start with and people assume that they do or should. The angle I come from is I have two sons who I'm going to teach as much as I can car stuff but one day I'm not going to be here and they're going to turn to the internet for help trying to figure things out.

I'll be honest, I've never once logged fuel trims in any of my cars. It's not my cup of tea. I feel like it's a big waste of time. Sometimes the only time I feel like it's necessary is on the E46 non-m's with the m54s and their horrible intake manifold vacuum system.

The s54 is a pretty simple engine. If you think about it. There is not a lot of places for vacuum leaks. If anything, it's going to be O2 sensors that are causing weird fuel trim issues more than anything.

But if you're going to tell somebody get the logs then you got to give them the information where to start.

There's a good thread on E46 fanatics that talks about how to OBD fusion, which is an app with one of those Bluetooth OBD dongles

And the thread was a good read and remains fairly active

With that they talk about how to log various items fuel trims being one of them.

Thanks, are there any recommendations for a decent BT OBD adapter to use with OBD Fusion?

I have two of the cheap Chinese ones you get on Amazon. They're blue. They work with Android. If you have an iPhone you have to get ones that say specifically work with iPhone

Just needs to say ELM which is a protocol
