ARC8s are gorgeous especially as you add concave, BBS RCs are pretty goofy looking in comparison

BBS RC’s do come in a much more concave profile then the pic in the thread. This is especially true for the lower offset wheels or wider 18x10 wheels.

i came from the honda tuner era so i'm well versed on what straight up fake wheels are (SW388 vs Slipstreams) but what Apex doing here is simply not the same. there's nuance to it, and calling Apex a replica company is either lazy or disingenuous imo

Also, the ARC-8 is definitely the closest replica to the BBS RC wheel ever made. Especially, when they don’t have the center plate and locking nut.

Oddly, enough the ARC-8’s are not much lighter than the BBS RC wheels. Which is kinda crazy given the BBS RC wheels were produced in the 1990’s.

i guess it's annoying to see that here's a company offering the community a multitude of functional fitments, verified BBK fitment, and multiple styling options (something that BBS or Volk never does) and the only thing some people can say is, "HURR DURR REPS" like it's some kind of subversive commentary

it comes off as ignorant or clownish behavior to me

now, if Apex were to debut a TE37 looking wheel in 18x9.5 +22, my pitchforks will be ready to wave aggressively

BBS RC wheels were not forged they were cast.

The BBS RCJ wheels were forged wheels.

I think they were flow formed aka spun cast which, at that time, would have been expensive and relatively new whereas now, it's ubiquotous and cheap.

Agree. These other companies had plenty of opportunity over decades to hone their lower cost offerings and target specific audiences. They declined and can get punted to the other side of the universe for all I care.

Apex has done the same thing in the Mustang wheel market. Kicked in the door and said here are some fitments designed specifically for your car and by the way, they weigh ten to twelve pounds less than your stock wheels and some other higher cost options. Pure stupidity from other wheel makers and Apex has shined a light on how things can be done. So did Apex actually design a great looking wheel all by their lonesome, nope, but they have made buying low cost, lightweight, reasonably sturdy wheels for a few platforms stupid easy.

I’m not a BBS guru but I used to have RC302s on my e36 and I’m pretty sure those were forged. They were e34 M5 application originally I believe, with an 74mm center bore, plus a 72.5mm adapter in my case. And if you took the center caps off they look exactly like ARC8s which, incidentally, is why I only had them for a very short time. I don’t know if other RC variants have different construction. There are like an hundred different sizes and fitments including OEM VW for the RC, so I feel like it’s likely there are tons of differences. And I don’t really care if people love or hate reps or are indifferent. Just be aware of what you have.

Thank you, it was a vibe but I moved on rather quickly. Interestingly, the size isn’t listed on that chart, they are 17x8.5 ET13 (maybe 15?)
