Which sealant should I use for the water pump gasket?

None, just use a genuine BMW gasket. The only thing to watch out for is to not pinch the two o-rings on the connecting pipe from the thermostat housing to the engine coolant pipe. Lightly lubricate o-rings with a silicone grease.

No sealant. Make sure that both surfaces are clean. I use a red scotchbrite pad to clean up each surface. Would not recommend using sand paper or razor blade on aluminum. I always use SuperLube on o-rings.
