Whats a good affordable scan tool that can reset airbag lights , adaptations , etc.. if it can communicate with a converted CSL dme that would be a plus.

I went with the Autophix 7910, sort of based on the results of Project Farm's test:

I an advocate of getting a cheap laptop and setting it up with INPA. Also you can buy a laptop already setup with INPA/ISTA, all the tools you will really ever need for about $500.
You can even buy a hard drive loaded with the software for around $80 if you have a cheap laptop already, you can have an old windows 7 or XP computer.
Yes a laptop isn't as convenient as a small scan tool but unless you buy a nice $2K SnapOn or Autel scanner you won't be able to have the functionality of laptop setup, and even then things such as a vanos test cannot be carried out with anything but the laptop.
If you want a few basic things and don't feel you will need to ever do any more than read/clear codes and reset adaptations a handheld scan tool is probably a winner.2004 Silbergrau Metallic 6MT

I'll make a thread on this once I test DME flashing and NCS coding using a virtual machine. So far, I have tested INPA (english version) and it reads codes, data, etc, but the person who posted the DIY seems to have tested many other BMW tools.

All instructions plus video are included in the post.
Macbook (Intel or M series, free if you already own one)
VMware (now free for personal use)
Windows 11 (ARM for M series Macbook)
ARM driver for OBD cable
BMW tools
INPA, NCS, TunerPro etc.
Should be a good, fast, low cost, one laptop solution.Last edited by Slideways; 08-06-2024, 02:06 PM.
