Anyone successfully install the non-M electric fan?

I picked one up and am wondering how much trimming or other modification is required to make it fit. I bought one from a 330i and attempted to drop it, place into top down, but found the fan motor making contact with the engine so i yanked it out. Just looking for pro-tips before I try again.

    Thanks all.

It’s been done before. I do believe there is a thread on here with some pictures. PM Nextelbuddy, Shawn installed one in his S54 Sedan. 😎

It's a lot of work to make it fit right and not have gaps.

hes right it is quite some work to get fitted.

i always ran the stock M3 fan setup on my personal s54 swap car. for the other swap cars i did i always installed the ZHP electric fan.

I recently installed the ZHP fan in my personal car since my intercooler took the front aux pusher fan spot.

for me it honestly isnt too bad of an install now. I just use a few of those universal radiator fan zip ties, i make sure to trim the bottom of the ZHP fan so it clears the m3 oil cooler shroud and after that the electric fan still slides into place and one of the m3 radiator slide brackets still catches the fan on the passenger side and i throw in 2 electric fan zip ties and its good to go.

my temps even with the turbo setup were always in the middle under slightly under mainly. rarely does it stay in the middle very long. im looking forward to testing it more in the summer humid heat here in Atlanta once i get back on the road.

I have one sitting in a box in the basement. I tried to go this route when installing my CSF radiator and oil cooler but the fan did not fit at all. the CSF oil cooler is much thicker than OEM and sticks out the back making a whole lot of contact with the ZHP fan. I've been thinking about moving the tabs on the CSF oil cooler (they aren't well placed anyways INMO) and making the rear of the oil cooler flush with the back of the radiator. This would require trimming the front side of the oil cooler shrouding, or building new ducting.

the CSF radiator is thicker than OEM and with an OEM radiator the ZHP fan already sits close to the water pump pully. I dont imagine you successfully fitting the fan very well with a CSF radiator unfortunately.
