Anyone getting the trunk wet with Karbonius CF trunk lid?

Had the Karbonius CF trunk lid installed a while ago. I probably only took the car wash only once and saw that the carpet was wet after the wash.

Am wondering if anyone else had a similar experience and if there are possible remedies.

Might have to fold the seats down and look around in the trunk with a flashlight while someone sprays a hose on it from the outside.

My Vorsteiner does this. Water is leaking through the top seal against the window. Im not sure if its the alignment or the trunk, or the seal is bad. Perhaps Ill investigate my issue this weekend and report back to the thread.

Now that I got rid of the original trunk lid, does anyone know if there were any seals on the lid itself? None exist on the Karbonius one, so was wondering if it is related. There are seals on the chassis side, but doubtful that they are doing their job at the moment.

I also thought about the alignment issue, but as it sits when closed, it perfectly aligned with the rest of the body. If I were to lower it, it would look odd from the outside (never mind that I wouldn't even dare playing with that kind of alignment since I don't trust myself enough to do a good job).

No, no seal on the stock lid. The seal is on the body of the car. I like Joker Elite's idea.

Vorsteiner here, same problem. I replaced the seal, but water still egresses. I got in the trunk and could still see light come through on the top seal. Original seal was still good and springy so new one didn't change much. Old ones will be compressed. Quick check is to slide a piece of paper between them when closed if you don't want to climb in there.

I'm thinking about putting some weatherstripping on the lid itself to create a seal against the original. Curious to hear if anyone else has done the same?

The problem are the trunk/mold themself. They don't have the same curve as OEM. If you check the gap against the backglass, it's usually tight in the middle and bigger gaps on both side

I think a cleaner solution would be to place something to act as a spacer in between the body/metal and seal. Should hopefully raise the seal enough to make contact with the trunk, and the modification wouldn't be noticeable at all.

Yup. If Karb uses a fiberglass/polyester resin mold then the mold can start to deform as more parts are pulled from it. Even a carbon/epoxy mold can deform. Only way to get infinite true composite parts is to use steel tooling which ain't cheap.

So while the earlier trunks were perfect it can change over time. Unless they are fitting each trunk they probably won't realize there's a mold issue.

So the seal sits on a lip right? Just pull the seal up on that lip a bit, that fixed the problem for me. Nothing says the seal has to be pushed all the way down. Hope that helps
