Turner CSL style airbox, pros and cons?

I've been running one for the last 4 years. There have been no issues with it. I understand now that ECS has had issues, but I haven't experienced any since October of 20 when I installed mine, and I drive my car very hard every time its taken out of the garage.

This is why I have a hard time moving away from the franken box I have… glass fiber and the “bark” is better than any cf box I've had the chance to witness.

Karb quality gets no complaints and they stand behind their products. The strong US dollar makes it cheaper now than ever.
Even if Turner/ecs have fixed the issues, I truly don't understand why you'd buy it over Karb. It's not really that much cheaper than the Karb race box.Last edited by discoelk; 09-22-2024, 04:25 PM.

Besides the airbox, I have ebay headers, Rogue Engineering Rasp-x form Bimmerworld and OE CSL section 2 & section 3. I'm not sure if it's the big opening that removes some of the honk sounds or a different thickness in the airbox walls that dampens the sounds, but it doesn't have the same sound.
Also, it rubs on the RE strut brace and is a pain to wiggle in/out and the car drones a bit at cruising speeds
If I were to do it again, I'd go Karbonus with a working flap.

The group buy is definitely a good discount. The challenge is you're still paying $1500, a lot of money to not be totally happy with the outcome. Karb is what, $2200?
My brain is telling me "buy once cry once", but we'll see if I get impulsive in the last days of the GB.

I too am on the fence about a CSL air box. I want it but it seems crazy that this will cost about 10%+ of the car’s value. Although I hope it will fix two major issues I have with the car is lack of sound and lack of power. (I’m in Denver so I’m down 60hp at the start of the hills).

Geoff Steel airbox includes a snorkel too for about US$300 more than the TMS box GB price. I know the finish is racecar quality and apparently, one needs to drill holes upon installation, but I'm contemplating that as an alternative to TMS box if not going with Karbonius.

If you are planning on running a CSL bumper with the primary intake duct, get an airbox that can accept the snorkel piece. You'll be able to take advantage of the ram air effect by having the bumper and primary intake duct.

I have a Karbonius race airbox but I use the CSL intake tube that would normally connect to the snorkel.

Does anyone here have a CSL bumper and the Turner box? Did you just leave it as is, or fabricated some ducting from the CSL bumper opening?
I'm considering getting this box, but I also plan to get a CSL replica bumper at some point, which the savings vs Karbonius would help me get.
