Turner CSL style airbox, pros and cons?

Hey guys, there’s a group buy currently being offered on some Facebook groups by Turner on their CSL style air boxes. I know there are a million threads about various boxes, sorry for the redundant question, but I couldn’t easily find what the group thinks of this air box specifically, quality wise and durability wise. Is the Turner air box good? Or a pass? Anyone have issues reported of these falling apart or any of that nonsense?

Also. They won’t / can’t ship to California. So that adds a layer of annoyance.

I’m also wondering if I can get some opinions from CA folks who have a CSL style inbox, do you find it to be worth the hassle to deal with smog, in whatever way you choose to deal with it? The group buy cost is $1586.99 and includes their installation kit (obviously tuning is a whole other thing)

The initial offering version didn't have enough epoxy when the intakes were built on the bottom side and would crack. I believe that has been corrected, but I could be wrong. I would give Turner aka ECS a call and confirm.

The GB has me thinking too. I don't NEED one but it would be cool to have one. I wonder about the air temperature it's pulling in, is there a snorkel they sell that fits to maintain factory-like ducting?

I don't trust it, entirely because of the ECS connection.

It's made in china. But its shape/design does seem to produce a tick more power on the dynos I've seen. I just couldn't trust it. The karbonius' fit and finish is so impressive - you feel like you really got something worth $2xxx

I have a V2 version, shipped in August 2020 installed in June of 2021, no issues so far (knock on wood), at the time it was worth it (to me) given the price delta compared to the other boxes on the market. Smog wise...that's an offline conversation these days.

Yea TBH I'm kind of shying away from it for the reasons you guys said. I wonder if the savings are worth the unknowns... Also wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze. Air box, tune, plus headers and cats to make it really worth it, that's a decent chunk of change that I should rightfully be spending on dialing in other aspects of the car. Anyone in the LA area with an air box who would be willing to take me for a spin?

This is true, if the price is a serious savings I'd only consider it then. If I could do it again id wait another year and get the Karbonious race.

I've shipped all my non-CARB compliant stuff to my mother-in-law in Indiana and give her labels to slap on and hand right back to the delivery driver.

I've already gone through one Karbonius install (on an SMG no less) with all the gizmos and gadgets needed. As Tbonem3 mentioned above, the fit and finish of the Karb box is really fantastic and I borrowed Casa de Mesa's suggestion on securing black bolts to finish the look. I actually held a Turner box in my hands when I looked at buying one locally that was new in box and can't say anything negative about the construction. You don't get the option to attach the snorkel (which is Tbonem3's favorite accessory) with the Turner box. I have been building an attachment that runs from the snorkel to the fog light cavity on stock bumpers which I should have ready to share with everyone in a month or so.

I'm down, once I get my driveshaft center support replaced

Ive been debating on whether to get CSL Box or the Stock Carbon Box. I already have eventuri intake which makes some great noise, but i havent sat in a car with a CSL carbon box.
With the Karbonious Stock carbon box and eventuri intake i may get close the sound of a CSL box, but less headaches with passing smog, since only thing it would fail is visual and easier to swap if needed.

My car came with a turner box on it, It’s not a karb box but I’m pleased with it. Sounds good, and seems like it’s built well.

Obviously ECS sucks and I didn’t have to deal with the bite of purchasing and getting the adjacent install components; but I have no complaints with it.

Definitely a decent option and cheaper overall.

I really want to do an "Intake Shootout" video. It's hard to capture the sound though. Like it's hard to really translate to the viewer how it sounds through a TV/laptop/phone.

This is where I'm at. The headacheless idea of the Stock Carbon Box is tempting. I like the idea of running MAF for road trips.
