    Leaving car unlocked

Any issue with leaving the car unlocked?

Like some (all) newer cars, leaving the car unlocked doesn't allow the car to go to "sleep"; any such issue with ours?

If not, would there be less drain on the battery seeing at the alarm isn't active.. anyone done any testing with a multimeter to verify such thing?

I leave my cars unlocked all the time in the garage, and they go to sleep just fine ))

A 5 year old can get into one of these cars with nothing more than a screwdriver (without setting the alarm off). IIRC the car uses (slightly) more power locked than unlocked.

you can even leave the doors open and it will go to sleep. Found this out when doing parasitic drain troubleshooting.

Dang. I was hoping this is why my battery drains. Suppose I just need to leave it on the maintainer more ...

What year is the car and does the car have Nav?

2004 - no Nav. Nothing aftermarket installed that causes the usual drains. I got a new battery this Spring because it was hard / noisy starting and it was time for a new one anyways. It starts rough randomly recently and for fun I checked the voltage the other day via the hidden functions that said it was 12.2. It has been on jack stands more than driven this year, tbh. I put it on the ctek - will leave it for a couple of days.

I never lock my car (it's a vert). Hoping I don't have to chase down a drain. I'm probably just lazy and don't put it on the ctek enough.

It's likely using less power unlocked than locked. Never had an issue leaving it unlocked in the garage. Unless I've left a concealed in there, it stays unlocked.
