The drive shaft has never been replaced, but there are no grease leaks anywhere. ODO is 80k miles.

Last year, I replaced all the differential bushings. Since it is a vehicle that is only driven on public roads (no circuit), I did not overhaul the differential.
I tried to find the place where the noise was coming from with a team of two, but the noise only came when a load was applied, and since the car was low, I couldn't go in any further, so I gave up.

I also suspected the CV joints and wheel bearings, but yesterday they suddenly started making noises alternately on both the left and right sides.
Is it possible for the CV joints or wheel bearings to fail on both the left and right sides at the same time? This is unbelievable...

What exactly is the problem with the slightly twisted CV joint? How did you fix it? Please give me some advice...

Are you talking about the dust cover?

That’s right!
There is about that much of a time difference when the sound occurs on the left and right.
When pushing forward, the sound comes from the passenger side first, followed shortly by the driver’s side. When pushing backward, the sound comes from the driver’s side first, then from the passenger side a moment later.
Additionally, the position where the sound occurs differs slightly between pushing forward and backward. There’s about the difference you mentioned, around the 12 o’clock and 2 o’clock positions. It’s about a 2-3 spoke difference on the wheel.
Have you ever encountered this kind of issue before?!

I'm still looking for other methods since crawling under the car remains risky.

Before this noise started occurring, I recall something from the last drive. I made a quick start and shift (from 1st to 2nd gear) on an uphill, and I’m concerned that this might have put strain on the aging axle.
For reference, the CV joint on the differential side was overhauled last year.

We are talking about rolling the car about 12” distance on stack of 2x6”. Adding 4” stack is high enough to squeeze in?
wheels on 4x6” wood should be stable and I would only concern if the suspension coil springs break, so I would carry with me a jack stand to protect my body just in case.

It’s been resolved.
It wasn’t a big issue after all. I think the main problem was that I kept the car in storage and didn’t drive it, trying to take care of it. After driving around 500 kilometers, everything returned to how it should be. Machines really do need regular use.
