Sadly, this will become an issue with many other parts. I don't see how any aftermarket brands will find it profitable to reproduce NLA parts such as this one when the demand is also dwindling... it will come down to buying used units for $$$$ granted they can be found for sale. Daily driving a nicely sorted E46 M3 with any non-standard options (ZCP, Individual, Dinan, etc.) will become more of a liability as the years go by...

Allegedly, the reason that there is such a huge glut of the rears is that when someone placed the last order for them back in the day, they thought that it was for individual wheels, but it was actually for pairs, so the order was double what they expected. The ordering system has since been corrected, so that can't occur again, but sadly they didn't then think to subsequently order some more fronts to match the over order of rears...... .
Regarding how the front ZCPs has suddenly dropped dramtically, is that (again allgedly), a company (unknown at this stage) has gone in and bought the remaining stock. It is believed that they will start to materialise on the market in the future with vastly inflated prices (as someone also did for E30 M3 parts - might even be the same company, but that is pure speculation on my part).....
As has been said, there is practically zero chance that BMW (at this stage) will recommission the wheels, especially given the situation currently with BBS GmBH (where they filed for insolvency in August this year, following KW's buy-out and restructuring falling flat on it's face). Obviously they will rise again I am sure, but it needs some serious finance and good management to bring them back to making a profit. KW's management following the buy-out, failed as they chose to concentrate on the aftermarket, which proved to be a huge mistake.
The only way I can see the wheels becoming available again is if the subsequent new owners of BBS GmBH reached out to BMW and offered to remanufacture them again. There needs to be a willingness from both sides, which is currently lacking.Last edited by Mike RT4; 10-30-2024, 08:37 AM.
