If anyone needs a new crank sensor or you just want to stash one for the future, rockauto is having a close out on the Standard Motor Products PC576. It’s an OEM sensor, complete with BMW logo stamped on it, just comes in a different box. FCP Euro sells the OEM sensor for $160. So it’s not a bad deal.

The sensor itself, sure. But the wiring from the sensor on my car was in horrible shape when I rebuilt the engine. I'm not trying to sell anyone on this, just providing a resource for an OEM sensor if needed.Originally posted by sapote View PostI have not heard a case of these crank sensor going bad. No semiconductor chip inside but just some fine copper coils so it's very reliable vs the non-M Hall sensor type.

The wiring? You meant the wiring of the cable connected to the sensor? The wiring condition has nothing to do with the sensor condition -- good or bad sensor. Am I missing something here?Originally posted by Ryan_R View PostThe sensor itself, sure. But the wiring from the sensor on my car was in horrible shape when I rebuilt the engine.

He means the like 3 inches of wiring that is part of the sensor, not the harness side.Originally posted by sapote View Post
