    Accelerator/Gas pedals NLA?!

My car was orignally SMG, and has since been swapped to manual. As a consequence, it still has the auto kick-down button in the accelerator pedal that drives me absolutely crazy.

I was looking to purchase a new, (manual) accelerator pedal, and saw that they were NLA? Are there any alternatives out there? I have not been able to find any...

This poses a pretty big concern for out community if the pedal is NLA, and there are no alternatives on the market. Am I missing anything? Am I best off buying used? From what I understand, a TPS sensor is located in the throttle pedal...what happens when these sensors inevitably fail, and new ones are NLA?

Pretty sure I saw a DIY here or at least a mention of how to modify the smg pedal to get rid of the auto-kick down.

      The kick-down can be removed - https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...more-kick-down

No problem, just remember, the pedal is the same for the E46 E39 E38 E52 E53, so there are A LOT of them out there

I think Hella make a pedal too, possibly OEM.

When opening the pedal box to remove the kick down switch, use the right security torx and take your time, mine felt like loctite was applied.

The white plastic holder should be replaced as well if you're removing the pedal, I read some horror story somewhere on these boards and it was enough to make me buy a new one. Pic below, if you do it right you won't break it upon removal.

When you're done, celebrate this little bastard being removed.

What is the correct Torx bit for the job?

If we are talking about 35-42-6-786-282, then my guy at the dealer says they are still available.

They were not available about a year ago, I remember needing one and having to get one used.

As of now it shows over 2000 of them in the system, so clearly a new batch was manufactured.

                      Certainly some good news.

If I remember correctly, I bought this set specifically for the size. They're 5 point stars with the security.

Even just months ago, when I thought this part was my issue (it wasn't). So now I will panic buy one to sit next to a bunch of other NLA-fakeouts.

                            * Off Topic Alert * While we are talking about accelerator pedals …

I have become annoyed at the feel (lack of resistance) in my go pedal. It shouldn’t be so easy to press down. Very un-racecar.

Has anyone encountered a fix for this?

Ugh, I'm about to do the same. Local dealer has these as order able, the parts houses (FCP, ECS, RA) do not as of this writing.
