New member here - just picked up a '05 E46 M3 with 109k miles on it recently. Just did the rod bearings this weekend and they looked as expected except for cylinder 2 which showed some pretty significant wear. There was also visual marking on the crank journal, however, it was not perceptible by touch. I have the new bearing on but the car isn’t reassembled yet, any opinions on me going back to pull that rod cap and polish the journal a bit? Link to photos if they don't load on this post: https://imgur.com/a/I9OaXVm

I would cut some strips of cloth and pull the strip to polish the crank journal using chrome polishing compound.
The chrome polish is exactly what I am considering, if anything just to take down any micro high spots.
