Extending EGT to SSV1 sec 1?

    Hey Fellas

I have the SSV1 with matching cathedral Sec 1. Like the the end of my EGT sensor wire was frayed at some point (header position). I'd like to relocate it to the sec 1 bung, but I don't want to extend from the wiring harness.

Am I able to cut the bad wire out of the old sensor and extend the new sensor with the old wire (match 1 to 1)? I'm hear conflicting stories regarding extending from tbe actual sensor.

Bump... just seeing if its safe to splice two EGT wires together, to extend to Sec 1 bung through passenger side. It'll be a lot easier than cutting the sleeve of harness and running down drivers side.

I would say it’s just wire so as long as you bring back continuity using high-temp wire you should be fine. you can test the egt sensor too, albeit kinda difficult to hit those pins with kelvin clips subs recessed or multimeter needles.

Well, if I'm understanding your situation, either 1] add a splice or 2] pull the entire wire and run a new; I know what I'd try. If I'm reading the Bentley wiring diagram correctly, the O2 wires are 0.5mm2 which is approximately equivalent to 20 AWG wire. If it were me, I'd get some quality 20AWG, pure copper wire (get some Tyco wire from Mouser.com or something) and splice it in using some PosiProducts "butt" connectors and give it a go.

EDIT: Is your sensor wire bad, or the vehicle side wire bad? If it's sensor, I'd R&R the sensor; if it's vehicle side, my advice above stands.
