Anyone in Atlanta with Cobra Nogaros?

Seat upgrade is down to Cobra Nogaro or Sportster CS. I am leaning towards the Nogaro for the weight savings, but I don't want to order them without sitting in them first. Anyone in metro Atlanta with them that would not mind letting me take a "test sit?"

Not in Atlanta, but chiming in to suggest that you do more than a quick test sit in them. 30+ min is a good idea.

For me, they're not uncomfortable initially, but they push my shoulders forward just enough that they start hurting quite a bit after a while.

I'm at the same decision point. Have you found a good source for Sportsters?

Thanks for the tip. I am a bit concerned that I will buy them and then end up disliking them after really getting to know them, I'm just not sure how I will get around this outside of someone taking me for an extended ride.

Couple of places in Atlanta I can get them. Discovery Parts at Atlanta Motorsports Park or Z1 Motorsports.

I don’t think sportsters are better than stock, outside of looking cooler. Barely lighter once mounted, harness holes are too low to use, not more supportive in the corners, far less adjustable than stock.

You find this as the driver? I noticed it as a passenger, but never while my arms are in the steering wheel holding position (driver).

Unfortunately yes. Had to make custom cushions for them to feel comfortable enough on longer drives.

I really want to like the Nogaros...

Funnily enough, I think the sporsters are more supportive (and more comfortable) than the nogaros. Annoying how much variation there is from person to person with seat preferences.

If it weren't for the location of the harness holes (and maybe the weight), I would have a set of sportsters in my car.

And if money weren't an object, I'd have a set of 997 RS fixed back buckets. Three point compatible, appropriately placed harness holes, hole for a substrap, ~weight of the nogaros and folding (!). Unfortunately last set I saw sold for like $17k on BaT...

Pfft you can find a set for $12-15k on rennlist. Or buy 996 buckets for $5k.

Oh hell yeah, sold. Only 12x the price of my current seats lol

Everyone is indeed different. I too think the Recaros are very comfortable - at least during a brief test sit in an acquaintance's car.

The Nogaros do look like they will be more appropriate at the track than the Recaros, and I really like the weight savings they offer. All that said, I don't think the stock seats are uncomfortable at all. I would just like more support at the track and a weight reduction.

Nogaros definitely have more shoulder support than stock. That + harnesses makes them a better track seat. There's not a lot going on for thigh/hip support though.

                            Ha.

My best friend put Nogaros in his e46 M3. Made him super enthused about how awesome seats are.

As a result, decided to get seats for his e39 M5. Since it sees no track, the harness holes weren't a concern-- so he got the sportsters. Did them up-- factory leather (vs default vinyl), BMW seat heater pads, BMW slides, etc...

... and may be taking them back out to go back to stock. Finds them less supportive, less comfortable, higher (and he's 6'6), and barely lighter than the stock M5 seats (which are heavier than M3 seats).

I'm only 6'4, but generally shared all his complaints. It was my first time getting any significant seat time with the CSs, and completely killed any desire I had for them in some future car.

Person to person variance really matters with seats.
