...Also, I am a consumer. I purchased a tune privately, I had feedback on the tune - and I relayed said feedback on a niche platform dedicated to the consumer base of said tune that holds the tuner to a very high regard. The more information that is out there, the better - so long as said information isn’t incorrect of course.

The reality is that for the vast number of S54 owners a canned tune is perfectly fine because most are not that critical of operation and just assume "that's how it is." But I would wager most people on THIS forum are a little more in tuned with wanting everything "perfect." The fact is that every engine is different, every combination has its own factors and a canned tune can't be "perfect" on every engine combination.

With that said most end users are not well educated on the process and in this case that is likely a breakdown in communication between all parties involved but I'll put the majority of the weight on it to your shop that was happy to take your money without making sure you were well informed and then washed their hands of the issues.

I used to sell/middle man tunes to clients without much thought and I lost a lot of time sorting out details on drivability (not just with HTE, but other tuners too). But as more and more people chase perfection I now suggest a couple options. Loading a tune or at least connecting a laptop and having someone like HTE load it for you (remotely) is so simple now that anyone can do it with a little handholding which Hassan has been more than happy to do for my clients. So I tell clients buy the tune, have him remote in and you drive it and report back. You then can relay your OWN findings straight to him and he can adjust as necessary. Once you are happy with how it drives on the street then go to the dyno if you are so inclined and have him tweak from there. I offer to do this for clients too, but when you consider how much times is spent loading the file or just physically driving the car most clients don't want to pay me for something they can do themselves. BUT some do and that's fine as well.

I've had many tunes from HTE on my personal car and clients and he 100% goes out of his way to make it as best as he can. Do I think he's the greatest tuner? IDK, as I don't have a benchmark for everyone, but saying that the hype is not warrantied is a gross understatement in my mind. Do I think he provides one of the best values in service and communication? Absolutely.

YMMV but communication and openness are likely going to get the best results whether its with HTE or someone else. I would suggest you contact him and deal straight with the source and cut out your shop.

Maybe I should just not re-tune my car at all when installing a CSL box?

Or are you saying I’m an idiot for doing a CSL airbox, and leaving the US headers? I have my own reasons for retaining the US headers, and don’t appreciate this (constant) air of superiority. This isn’t the first time lol.

Adding a CSL intake to a stock car with stock US headers is so backwards I'm not surprised it's not working out (that's probably not the issue but it's a new one).

Not calling you an idiot but you're going against what's been tried and true to work and getting different results than you expected so that technically makes you not insane.

You're tuning issues need to be rectified directly with Hassan, I've had my car and plenty of other friends with his tunes and as long as you remain the main POC in the ordeal, you shouldn't have any issues unless there are issues with the car.

Or you're doing something strange.

Like keeping US headers lol.

If it's for smog reasons, just register in a smog exempt city no?

If you're just chasing the noise, make your life more simple and get an Eventuri intake and not deal with any hassle at all. Unless you like the look of a CSL intake, in which case send it.

Never meant to disparage you or your business - more so wanted to share direct experiences I have had with two of your tunes. From my perspective, the more information that’s out in the open, the better. That’s what the forums are ultimately for. As demonstrated by this thread, you have a cult like status on the forums. Not saying that status is undeserved, it’s not. But I feel like this creates an environment where issues go unreported. I ultimately just want the best products as possible on the market for these cars on the market.

Steve initially flagged the shift light issue. I followed up on two different platforms…it’s not like I didn’t try. Even so, I understand you’re very busy and your tunes are very reasonably priced (almost too reasonable compared to the alternatives in the market)! I’d love to try a revised file and update the body of my post to reflect any changes. Like I mentioned, the purpose of this thread was in no means intended to disparage you directly, more so wanted to share my experiences with your product after racking up a combined ~25,000 miles on your tunes, and indicate where some room for improvement is. Improvement doesn’t happen when no one is willing to disclose issues.

Well it's too late now. You done dragged that man's name all through the mud.

He lost his business... bros family is now in a shelter and he's a bagger at the grocery store.

Someone post the Kanye shaking his head GIF!

I had reached out to HTE two times before writing my post. I don't understand the hostility. Also, I am a consumer. What hostility? I just recommended you to contact him. Good luck.

[cornerbalanced]

Why don't you send him a message as he suggested instead of coming on here posting your thoughts….BEFORE trying to talk to HTE.

Might help you get things sorted if you communicate directly with HTE.

Tuning a car with stock US headers tells me everything I need to know.

Maybe I should just not re-tune my car at all when installing a CSL box?

Guys. If anyone had drivablity issues all you have to do is reach out. Super easy fix. To the OP why didn't you simply tell me I'll happily fix it. I go thru many many cars and I can't follow up on everyone unless they tell me or reach out. I've spent countless hours with people logging and diagnosing issues till stuff is squared out. It's not a cookie cutter nor it needs to. Each car is different and some require logging and custom adjustments. It's that simple. Reach out, I'll be happy to work with you. I just remembered your car. All you had to do was come back to fix the stalling. It's literally a 5 minute fix but you simply didn't and I offered to log in remotely to fix it for you and you didn't reach out to do it.. (if that's not you then I must be mistaken but it's the only car I remember that had a stalling issue literally the only one.. ) Reach out for updates! Really simply folks. A problem like that won't show on a dyno. It showed after you drove it. I believe they gave you my contact and a link to the k+dcan cable you need and I would have simply logged in and fixed it.
I fix bucking every single day ,apparantly still not making a dent in the world lol. If you have an issue talk to me!Guys. If anyone had drivablity issues all you have to do is reach out. Talk to your tuner. Super easy .

If youre familiar with newer cars , i tune g80s, f80s ,supras , m340s etc... it's not a simple dyno tune or a single revision and you're on your way. It's log, adjust , log, repeat, till it's perfect. Can't do it all in one session or a single revision just not how it works, some things wont even show on a dyno. Tuning any car is simply just that. Look at logs and adjust (after having started from a base tune). On the E46 we're fortunate enough that it works for most cars to have an ots , but when it doesn't work out , simply custom adjustments is what is needed..

Also @op was your car converted from smg to manual ? If it was then it would need coding to not stall and for your shift lights to work. I'm just guessing here, I wasn't made aware of that either. But only reason why it would stall coming to a stop and for shift lights to not work ( I'm guessing your cruise control didn't work either )
very simple, all you had to do was let me fix it .
also if you whatsapped and i didnt reply, i promise you i didn't see it. I have thousands of clients, literally 100s to reply to on all socials daily.. very very rarely someone slips thru as I'm 18 hours a day online just talking to people . You just had to talk to me again ,God forbid I should miss a text 😅

Why you guys comparing Mullet tune with HTE? HTE is general tune (Idle, full throttle etc), as i understand- Mullet is only for partial loads

They’re both full tunes.

Evolve --> TFS --> Paul Claude --> HTE --> Mullet

probably missed a couple

by now would be going PNP standalone over 1990's computer/electronics tech and used parts

I have both the Mullet tune and HTE tune. They both have strengths. I haven't had enough time with both of them to do a good comparison, but I will soon.
