My father's car he sold it 2017. He bought it brand new from the dealer, after a tech at the dealer totaled his 03(?). They gave him a good price and trade-in on since they totaled his car. Judging by the inspection sticker and it being a 2006, this couldn't have been too long after he bought it.

      Was it totaled in Austin?

I wasn't the driver... or passenger, lol. But there were a couple totaled around that time IIRC 👀

Lets see some more throwback pics. 20 years ago I had Hondas. I think actually quite a lot of BMW guys now, started out that way, and most of us still appreciate a nicely put together golden era JDM car.

1994 Honda Civic DX 1.5L SOHC w/ a GReddy turbo kit. 50-state legal baby. Pretty sure after the turbo kit I was pushing 150HP.

Couldn't afford the E46 in 2006, but I was able to get my 1995 M3.

The Euro bug bit me at this point and I haven't shaken it off since.

Well, not exactly special, but it was a manual, the color and interior were uncommon, and it was the first car I bought with my own money. $1200

                      1980 Toyota Corolla SR5 1.8

When I bought the car it was in far better shape than these pics. I found my exact car on some sight but it had recently sold. I probably would have bought it otherwise. I liked it back then.

‘05 was definitely pre-German for me… couldn’t afford it… a ‘99 Accord EX V6 for me and a ‘02 Nissan Pathfinder LE for her to carry the kids to those expensive arse schools.

The Silver Mafia in that GTG pic is crazy.

                        maw

I had a 2000 Civic Si (stolen) then a stock 2000 Civic EX (stolen) and then my swan song with FF Hondas was a 1998 Civic CX with a high compression B18C (not stolen) built that car during my time at Modified Magazine and Super Street

'05 was a year before I bought my E46 318i. I was driving a 1996 Mazda Familia, my brother called it the sausage because of the amount of body roll when you went round corners. It was a great car for student me, reliable, cheap to run, and on the plus side you could really push it's limits driving around town

Then in 2006 I got my 2000MY 318i. I'd loved the E46 since it came out and was very keen to own one. The handling was so much better than any car I'd previously driven and I had a lot of fun with it until it died in 2015 (rod-knock - surprising outcome for the M43). I said a sad goodbye to the 318 and then a few months later bought the M3 - I picked it up a few days before Christmas 2015.

Wow these are amazing photos, thanks for sharing. It's quite amazing to see so many barely modded e46's in a row like that. Would love to reproduce such a photo with seemingly stock cars if at all possible nowadays!

Would have to be taken using a slighly grainy camera for maximum nostaliga.
