    Euro Dash Storage Compartment Info

Anyone on here have a euro dash with the driver's side storage compartment (and potentially a 3D scanner)?

If so, I'd really appreciate more info on what the dash shape is like behind the cubby. Pictures/3D scans/drawings are all useful. Basically anything will be helpful, as I've never seen one in person.

Looking to retrofit this into my car and need to figure out what shape to form my dash into. More info here if you're curious: https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...453#post291453

    Thanks!

Ironic that the euro dash has the ultimate at hand gun storage location, and the US dash does not.

Incredible, I was actually hoping you would have one on hand.

Thank you! These are super helpful.

Not useful to your project, but this is THE best e39 mod if you're tall (and includes the euro dash storage bin):

Yeah it would be awesome if the E46 dash was two piece as well. Would be a bolt on thing at that point instead of having to mess around with cutting and modifying the existing dash.

Fortunately the E46 dash seems to already have the slimmer lower dash (see the area around the steering column), so no legroom lost with the US dash.

Just a storage compartment that was only offered on euro cars.

US cars have styrofoam in there to protect the knees of people that don't wear their seatbelts or something of the sort.

bmwfnatic don't want to be a bother, but do you happen to have any pics of what the inside of the dash looks like with the storage compartment in place?

The hole that BMW cut in the dash looks fairly square, but the compartment is definitely not. Just curious to see how much clearance they left from the edges of the compartment to the dash.

Here's some pics showing what I'm talking about. Notice how my rough cuts/measurements are not straight along the edges (it's especially apparent around the hinge pins):

Can take pics, or do you just want to have half the dash?

Ha! Having the dash in hand would definitely be helpful, but I wouldn't want to cut up one of these parts. I also think I'm too far into this project to turn back now. I really want to see if this retrofit will work.

                        Pictures would be awesome, thanks!

Send a corner section of the dash! That would make this a whole lot easier

Alternatively, do you have access to a 3D scanner?

Unfortunately not, I do own an iPhone, not sure if anything can be done with that?

No worries. Heinz mentioned you might be willing to package and ship a (some?) full dashboard to the US. Is that an option, and would it be more cost effective to send a few?

                              Making progress..
