Help diagnosing shifter popping out of gear intermittently when releasing clutch

Need help diagnosing/prioritizing what to check:

So I've driven this car for around 2K miles now. Intermittently and now seems more often than not, when I release the clutch reverse gear, 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd pops out. This happens when it's cold or warm. Sometimes I could drive it for a few weeks without an issue. When I engage a gear, there are instances where I know it will pop out. It feels like the gear is not fully engaged as if the travel distance is not as far as it should be. It doesn't pop out when driving and there is not gear grinding that I notice unless you try to force it.

I am planning to change the clutch and with it, refresh shifter linkage and detent springs.

I am hoping this will solve it other than having to replace the transmission. I've watched a few Getrag rebuild videos, but don't know enough about the cause.

    Appreciate any guidance/help.

R, 1, 2, 3 popped out. Too many gears popped so I don't think they are all with worn down dogteeth. I think the console shifter linkage has too much plays, so not moving the tranny tail end shift rod far enough to fully engage the slider teeth to the synchro teeth. Stock shifter or short-shift?

feels like a short shifter, originally it had a shorter knob and it was worse. I replaced it with a stock lighted knob it got better but still. You think the Rod Joint foam maybe disintegrated?

I think the foam is just for anti rattling and less of a functional factor in shifting. Maybe it's time to fresh up the shifter linkage components. Go to RealOem website, enter 7 last VIN numbers to select your car, then check out the components for the shifter.
