Agreed, not an fan or any current Lexus styling outside of the LC500.

will be interested in hearing about your ownership experience with the L/C both in terms of how you like it and it’s reliability/quality.

Same here, prefer the exterior and interior of the LC over the GX. And the button over touch screen

I have a 1958 but I think best trim to have is the LC/LC. 1958 was cheaper but have a lots of dumb difference I still don't understand like plastic dash/armrest/door cards, flush plastic fender trims vs flares, plastic transmission cover plates vs steel skid plate, no KDSS, ...

I really like the fabric seats tho, the manual hatch and no sunroof. The rest I am trying to built it on my own!

For the forum, we are lucky to have a nice forum here with valuable members. Not a lot of platforms can say the same.
Didn't realize the 1958 had a manual hatch. I wonder what would be involved in swapping that. Can't stand power lift gates.

My only actual disappointment with the LC design is that it doesn't have a split folding tail gate you can sit on, ala Range Rover/X5/pickup trucks.

I'm pretty much buying it for reliability, so if it isn't... I'll be pretty freaking disappointed. As in, historically, the Land Cruiser line is probably the most reliable SUV in the world?

That said, I don't think I'll be forming an opinion on that aspect super quickly. Neither my wife nor I want to DD any sort of SUV-- so it'll only be used when we have an SUV need (overloading, trailering, moving large/lots of things, and snow, in our case). I doubt it'll ever see more than 5000 miles in a year, and most years far less. I used to have a suburban in this roll, and it averaged ~2000 miles/year (admittedly it did zero overloading, so that may be a cause for increase in the LC).

... but I intend to do that with it basically indefinitely. As in, if I get less than 30 years of service out of it, I'll be disappointed. I'm 1 month away from 20 years of service from the M3, which is used as a DD/track car (more miles, more stress). LC should be easier

L/Cs are certainly built like tanks. Toyota has has some bad luck with reliability recently, but I feel the L/C should be better as it’s not introducing any new tech.

Any reason you didn’t opt for a 4runner?

I prefer the interior and exterior of the LC, and the back seat of the 4 runner seems not nearly as spacious.

Plus, a global car probably gets more development than a North America only car. And I don't ever want to buy the first model year of anything, and the LC has 1.5 years on the ~1 month old 4Runner.

I have been following all the Toyota issues as closely as I can-- seems like all of them are related to getting new production lines up and running more than fundamental engineering flaws. The LC's engine has also been in use in a Lexus since 2021, so they've had some time to sort that-- and it hasn't had the casting issues of the V6 in the Tundra/GX.

              Here's hoping

I feel like we need a new term for the "full size" now that the Prado and "full size" are the same size and share a platform.

                  But, yes, that's true.

The old 200 will be missed (by me at least) and that split tailgate was great! What, the E70 X5 had the same too (or was it the first gen X5)? I don't remember. Back to the LC200, when they went to the 8sp auto, the gear hunting gremlins surfaced; the older 6sp was way better with the 5.7L. I go to Japan and see the 300s but not for North America, you have to get an LX600 which to me, is a head scratcher. I am on the fence between the GX550 and 250 LC for replacing my GX460; I don't really want a hybrid. But then again, I'm not convinced the V6TT "debris" issue has been resolved.

I 100% agree on the 8spd. I have a 2010 and the only desire to grab a newer MY is the front clip, but I'd rather do a conversion than get rid of my Amazon Green. Doubt I'll ever sell it, she's still a young 220k miles.
Not sure I could deal with the clackety 4cyl and have zero desire for a hybrid.
