    ZKW-R Lens issue

Anyone have issues with ZKW-R lenses from The Retrofit Source? I lens is about .5mm larger than stock and doesn't sit flush in the housing.Click image for larger version

I have on another chassis, it distorts the cutoff. The lens MUST be of the same characteristics to maintain the optics of the lighting beam.

You can shave down the holder and they will fit flush. No distortion. Minimal shaving with a Dremel works fine.

That's disappointing as it's advertise as a direct replacement.

I agree. I also purchased those and had to modify the lens holders with a dremel. It not hard just time consuming. I painted the lens holders and the metal flaps with hi-temp black paint. It gives the lens a dark eye look during the daytime. 😎

The lens holder before and after.

          Painted Black.

Yep doesn't take much to make them fit.
            Looks good in black.

wow, crazy that I didn't see any posts about this prior to purchasing. the DIYs on Youtube don't mention anything about modifying the brackets. They all just drop in. I wonder if they changed the design or something.

Back in the day when HIDPlanet was still a thing, it was "common" knowledge modifications were required to put ZKW-R lenses in AL projectors.
