    Seat Upholstery options

Hey all I want to re cover my front seats, I had L-seat send me a sample card of the colors available and none matched the grey leather of the M3. Has anyone found somewhere else with a closer match to factory? Thanks in advance!

I can tell you that I got samples of every gray Relicate offers and none of them matched the gray in my 2003.5
    Old, not obsolete.

Get a passenger seat skin and swap it. The only difference is the inside fold handle. You can buy the exterior handle and parts from a RHD car and use the mechanism from a passenger seat. Looks OEM because it is. if you look at a RHD m3 on realoem, it's pretty self explanatory.

Clean passenger seats are easier to find and typically the grey stuff is worth less used. Finding nice ones can be difficult though.

Bmwrestoredseats on instagram. I had mine done in green leather, so in fairness that isnt factory but ive seen the factory restos he has done and they look pretty excellent. Im happy with my purchase, and Joni was a solid dude to work with.

If you're on the East Coast, Joni is a no brainer. Amazing work and stand up guy.

He's not a stand-up guy, he's kind of a piece of shit and a scammer.

            I'd pass on that dude.

I had forgotten about BMW restored seats, does he have just the upholstery to purchase? 9kracing, what makes you say that? If he is in fact a scammer I will proceed with trepidation.

He previously had a pretty bad rep, it seems to have improved a little.

I will say that my experience with him was not super great. He is expensive, he took a month to do my a-pillars (though he was in the middle of moving shops), didn't meet deadlines that he stated he would, poor communication (didn't hear from him for about two weeks at one point), and the inserts strips from my a-pillars came back with multiple broken tabs (can't say that it wasn't a result of shipping though). Not bad-mouthing the guy, just didn't have a stellar experience. Yours and/or others may vary.

So, do with that information what you will. His work on Instagram does look great though.

I'm working with him on both my cars and it's been pleasant so far but I also told him to take his time and there was no rush so I could see how the wait time could be an issue. This is the first I'm hearing of him being a scammer though.

I had him reupholster an Imola interior, both front and back seats. No issues at all. Communication was great and wait time was minimal.

All the premade cover options look bad, I wish there was a cheap solution but you really do need to get custom covers made if you want them to properly look good.

Joni did my M-texture interior. First of all, he listed a price, and once we started moving forward, he tried to change the price. I ended up paying almost 4 grand and didn't even get the two front seats, just door panels and rear seats. Red flag #1.

Second of all, it's a cheap black dye job over grey panels. I was told I was getting a black interior, not dyed grey interior. When my local shop put plastic over my interior to protect it while working on the car, they pulled up the tape it pulled up the dye on the panels and door, leaving big grey stripes.

I reached out to Joni to get the dye he used to at least try to re-dye it before a show I had coming up, but he wanted me to pay out of pocket to ship him my panels so he could "fix it" and I could pay for shipping back. When I declined and pressed him for the dye color so I could fix it myself, he stopped responding and went dark even though I reached out multiple times.

FUCK that guy, you're much better off buying the material yourself and having a reputable local shop do it for you.
