DIY - Stiffened Rear Shifter Carrier Bushing

So I wanted to improve the tiny bit of side to side play I have in my shifter. I already have an ASS kit and have read about the poly bush, which reduces the side to side play but adds noise.

reading online found that the OE bush can be filled with PU and stiffen it a bit, so is a hybrid solution where most is still rubber but the voids are PU filled

i got the Flex-It 70 kit which has a shore A value of 70, is not expensive but you need only 6mm of combined part A and B.

    so you need:

    - Flex-It 70 or any PU 2 part product
    - syringe
    - wooded stick
    - New or cleaned bushing

then you just need to mix 2 equal parts of PU mix and stir to make the blend homogeneous. It only gives you 6 minutes to be able to pour it so have all ready

the syringe is convenient as you can measure equal amounts by volume rather than weight. It only took me 3ml of each part to fill the void of the bushing that faces the front of the car. You could fill both sides if you wanted to but I want a noise free solution so will first try with the most relevant portion of the bushing.

here the products in question and the filled bushing.

and for reference the old bushing so you can see how much is filled

    Interested to hear the results.
    Old, not obsolete.

Interesting idea, let me know how it works out for you. I tried the Turner rear carrier bushing, but it was too much with the AS SSK. It's also a giant pain to install and remove compared to stock which has a lot more flex to pry out the slot.

I just installed it, I expect to be able to drive the car this weekend.

Installation: It snapped on by hand, I was able to still squeeze the bushing a bit when comparing it to the original bushing, but obviously much less so than stock. to install i just slid in one side onto the tabs and press it up and it snapped in place.

Static Feedback: It really did not do much for the little side to side play I have, however, it change the overall feel, the gear lever feels more solid and now there is absolutely no play up and down, the little side to side left is not coming from the bushing, but the joint to the lever arm,.also the sound changed, before it was more metallic, say it went from a clack type of sound, to more of a thump. overall there seems to be a bit more feedback to your palm.
