Brake squeak/squeal after pad/rotor change (ceramics?)

    Hi all,

On 6/7 I replaced my front pads and rotors using BMW rotors (ZIM-150347120) and BMW Performance Ceramic pads (HAW-HB464Z764).

I've done brakes a million times. The caliper piston compressed easily, I greased the back of the pads and the slide pins, I cleaned the rotors off with brake cleaner, put everything back together and set the pads.

Once I started regularly driving I had a high-pitched squeal under braking. It's worst at low speeds, slowly coming to a stop.

I pulled my slide pins out and scrubbed them off with brake cleaner and re-greased them thinking I was maybe a little sloppy on the first go. It worked for a few braking cycles then the squeal came back. I've probably driven ~300 miles since then and it's consistent.

I've had ceramic pads before but on my old Z4, and they were Akebonos (AKE-EUR781) not BMW Performance and they didn't squeak like this.

Is this my life now with these pads? I don't necessarily mind it but I want to be sure I didn't f' it up.

    Thank you in advance

Searched for a solution but couldn't find anything so new thread.

Those aren't "BMW Performance." They are Hawk pads, and Hawk pads are garbage. I wouldn't run them for free.

Find some other pads. If you really want ceramic pads, Akebono is tried and true. But "performance" and "ceramic" are kind of oxymorons when it comes to brakes. I prefer a semi-metallic pad as they don't neuter brake feel, and there are low-dust semi-metallic pads out there.
