Anyone interested in Liftbars?

Hey all,

In our other thread about jacking up the car (https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...on-jack-stands), I mentioned a product known to the Porsche guys as "Liftbars." I reached out to the guy who makes these and he said he would be willing to make them for our cars if we can get about 3 people to commit to purchasing them. Let me know if any of you are interested or have any questions. I would definitely want one since quick jacks are kinda pricey and the other solutions seem a bit clunky.

Thoughts? Here's the email that he sent me:

"Julian,

A friend of mine has a set of the old BMW bars (and a E46 coupe - coupe and sedan have the same jack point spacing). I will take a look at how much work it would take to update them to the new design.

I would only need a couple/three orders to justify making a jig. I expect that only hardcore M3 owners would pay the $399 cost, however. (About one third of the price is shipping. There are lots of extra charges - FedEx rates anything over 48 inches as 40 pounds, for example.)

Harbor freight has lift bars? I’m confused on which product you’re talking about.

the point of these bars is to ease the process of putting your car up on jack stands. Rather than dealing with expensive solutions like quick jacks/rennstands/jackpoints or having to lift the vehicle on the side to then put another jack to the center jack point to lift up the front or rear, this may be a good solution to have it one and done.

Oooo good find! It’s close but it’s not exactly the same as the lift bars as the lift bars are designed to have the jack stands up directly under it. So you lift up the car from the lift bars then get it up to height and then place jack stands under it.

Is this for stock suspension? I can't see how this will fit under my car with coilovers and using a low profile jack.

That's a good point. I still have to put blocks under my car when using my maxjax so I'm sure the same would be required when using something like this.

Not sure as these work with Porsches which are lower at times. Like the gt4

Most of the newer types require a spacer under a tire for clearance. The small tire ramps from Amazon are what many folks use, now.

Notes:
If jack height too high use spacer under rear tire (2x6)
Use only 2 to 6 ton axle stands with pyramid style base*
Use on level, smooth, concrete; jack must roll in and out freely*
After reaching target height, lift opposite side again to settle stands

*NO ESCO/HF flat-top stands
*Use steel plate larger than jack on uneven surfaces
