If it's a thousand dollars more for the hybrid, why not just buy the regular CSL box and get it tuned properly?

          I have read the thread.

The hybrid is marketed as providing the benefits (mostly sound) of the CSL box without the tuning headaches associated with ditching the MAF. But most people with the CSL box have resolved any driveability issues with proper tuning, which IMO should not cost more than a thousand dollars on a N/A engine, even with dyno tuning.

Unless you are paying someone two grand to get 20 horsepower out of a CSL intake without your car stalling, I don't see the value here.

Is that sufficient effort? Or would you like a peer-reviewed scientific publication on why it costs too much money?

Assuming the Kassel software/firmware works, I get...

                  Kassel tune: $235
                  Filter from whomever: $100
                  IAT relocation: $100
                  shut off valve: 180
                  Total additional costs: $600ish

So, $2700 all-in for the CSL-rep intake, or $3600 to keep the MAF. I thought the draw with the hybrid was that it wouldn't require the additional expense. Maybe it's just the inconvenience? Or is the driveability really that shakey even with the tune?

I guess I'll wait for the copycats and hope I don't suck a trumpet into the engine.

I'd give this a shot if it didn't look so weird... there was no way to emulate the carbon airbox with the larger bell mouth and incorporate a larger filter on the front?

The MAF can only allow a certain diameter of intake to accurately read air flow. The CSL used a MAP sensor for that reason.

Right - and I guess development of a larger MAF sensor would require a retune anyways and defeats the purpose of this. I'll stick to the Karb airbox!

And to be honest I’d be surprised if it actually made that on a stock tune.

As of 10/28/1025 FCP Euro does not intend to sell the Eventuri Hybrid Airbox. That could change but for the "shut up and take my money" gang like me it is IND for now.
