E39 or E9X seat heating elements?

Scoured the internet to no avail. Has anyone successfully swapped a set of heating elements into their e46 m3 seats?

Took me forever to find a very nice pair of seats with adjustable bolsters and before installing I'd love to have my upholstery guy put them in.

    Best info I could find:

    "I think the E39 ones are too large for E46 sport seats. Heard that E90 is more or less ok (64 11 6 973 943, 64 11 7 138 803) - but you'll need to repin the connector as it's different."
Hi all. Does anybody know if seat heating pads can be repaired? I’m working with upholstery shop on redoing front Sport seats (2004 M3). Bottom driver seat heating pads has a 1” x 1” burned through hole. I found a couple of spare, but they are not perfect either. One has s small burn mark...

E39 should be plug and play. See here: https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...heated-recaros

What's the rationale for going with E39 or E9x (vs. E46) heating elements?

Electrically the e39 elements work great, I use them in my recaro sportsters in my e46. You will lose side bolster heating that the e46 elements have if you use them as-is however.

E46 heating elements are not sold separately.

Cool thank you, not worried about side bolster heat. Was more concerned about sizing/fit. Probably fine if they fit sportsters.
