    Which BBK

Hi All, I relaise this may have been done to death but i was wondering if AP was still the way to go for a road car BBK?

I think AP's E46 M3 BBK comes with the CP5575 caliper and that doesn't have dust seals. Does anyone on here run the AP kit and if so have you had to have it rebuilt?

I know nothing but if I were to do a BBK kit it'd be Brembo GT's

For a road car you want dust seals. 996 conversion has dust boots and is pretty well tried and true. Same with the Brembo GT's.

For a weekend only/track day car, then I think AP is tops, but you still could not go wrong with 996 or Brembo GT.
        Old, not obsolete.

I have AP on mine: CP5555 front and CP5144 rear, those have dust seals.

But AP would be Overkill for just a road car.

I agree with the above, for breaking performance you don't "need" a brake kit. That being said I would still do it, just because multi piston fixed calipers offer better pedal feel than 1 piston moving calipers. The 996 conversion is the best bang for buck here. There are lots of pad options available and you will not pay as much for these consumables as with racing focused BBKs.

I went with the Brembo GT BBK setup with their two piece Type 3 rotors.

At the time I got my kit this was the price for the front and rear set

A little pricy but well worth the money to have this kit installed on my M3. I love the look of these huge yellow calipers and two piece rotors. There is a big difference in braking from the original M3 brake setup these cars came with and this Brembo GT BBK setup. Also the looks are amazing.

I have a Brembo GT 4 piston red calipers - 380mm front and 345mm rear slotted rotors as well as a Stoptech 4 piston blue calipers - 355mm front and 345mm rear slotted rotors that I will be selling soon.

my suggestion for a street car if you must have a BBK for whatever reason, it should be based on a OE product

I was thinking of that but heard about cracking where the caliper bolts are with track use.
