Totaled M3 - Are you guys trying to repair this?

My car was unfortunately totaled recently, however with a guaranteed value insurance policy, I was lucky enough to “buy” back the car for free as well as receive my payout. Just looking for a little guidance. If I decide to part out the car, I’d like to hang onto the drive train to swap into something some day. With that being said, are you guys attempting to repair this so that it could at least be used on the track or occasional use, or would I make out better just parting it? Aside from the obvious damage the car is in really good condition. The chassis is mainly only damaged on one side in the fender area.

You're going to need to get it on a frame machine for measurements, only way to know, but eyeballing, looks proper fooked (doesn't mean it can't be saved).

No insurance does that. They'll pay you out a few grand less than whatever the total loss would have been.

Not true. “Cherished Salvage” through Hagerty.

In the event of a client’s covered total loss, Hagerty offers Cherished Salvage® coverage: They keep their vehicle and still receive the full Guaranteed Value®.

My car was hit in the exact same way in 2016 but worse and I brought it back. The part uptop is a "fender apron" and a good body guy can replace it for you (not that crazy of a job). The rocker panel, that's up to you if you want to cut the whole panel out or get creative with straightening all thst sheet metal out. Either way thats not bad damage. Message me for pics and documentation of the repair if you have the interest.

If this was 2055 someone would fix that for sure.

Does it make sense today? Probably not from a financial standpoint, but most of us on this forum aren't here for financial rationality. lol

^ That, mainly the first part lol

BMW made ~26,000 M3 coupes for the NA market. Unless you are planning to throw a lot of money at that and/or make it a track car, would part it out and find another one.

That’s a good point. I bought this car in ‘19 so to the see the market the way it is, really hurts to send it to scrap. We’ll see what happens

Hagerty is the best......also, I wouldn't even put that on the track. Sounds like a great donor for whatever good mods you did, into a clean/stock example.

Can be fixed but M3 specific parts are getting more outrageous by the day. I'd use genuine BMW as much as possible to retain as much value as you can.

It's funny because I just put my M on Hagerty insurance today LOL. After the OP mentioned the "buy back" thing, I called Hagerty and they confirmed that they have that as an option. I don't want to keep gambling with losses on that car with standard insurance if something were to happen.
