Has my Eventuri MAF housing failed? + Intake elbow leak

[E46 M3]

Was doing a smoke test and realised the MAF housing seems to have seperated? is it meant to be this loose prior to install?

Inserting the MAF and tightening the screws to me still feels like there's a gap/loose.

(I'm chasing high idle MAF readings)

Also located a leak at the elbow I don't understand, I've taken the elbow and inspected it and can't see anything perished/damaged and have reseated it about 5 times.

Is it possible the gasket is gone and no longer sealing?

There is supposed to be a plastic ring between the airbox and the elbow, yours may be missing or not installed correctly.

Yea I have it, had a look at and it seemed fine perhaps not well enough.

EDIT* Will buy a new one, should I get an OEM elbow too or a silicone one?

The worm clamp may be worn out and not clamping enough.

Took a closer look at the housing and there's just no seal in it, where did it go? maybe in my airbox? Lol.. seems to have disintegrated.

They want close to $200 for a replacement and it rubbed me the wrong way.

Can anyone recommend something to seal it up? Perhaps JBweld RTV?

The gaps on the side are where its clamped down but isn't the MAF sensor sealed by the rubber o-ring?

Have you looked into other universal MAF pipes sold that may fit? You may need to trim length...

No the o-ring is much higher, the gaps you can see bypass straight into the housing past the maf sensor. It's hard to photograph.
