      I pulled with all my effort but that didn't get the exhaust to budge. I got it, but it took some pretty hard wacks with a rubber mallet to the wrench. Not my favorite method, but it eventually got it to rotate. Now on to the seals.

        They will not. I recently reinstalled cams and when one of the lobes starts pressing down on a valve, it will have a good amount of resistance.

          Yes, it has good amount of resistance but should not locked up that requires rocking the cam back/forth to get it moving. The rockings are to unlock the helical splined shaft from the hub.

            I would be afraid to wack the wrench of breaking the hollow, high carbon fragile cam. You eventually have to remove the vanos and the hubs, then why not removing them first then turn the cam at ease?

              I hear you, but I am not an expert, and all the guides were saying to retard the cams before removing the VANOS. If I start dismissing what the guides say, it gets very muddy very quickly as to what to pay attention to and what not to.
